At The Lice Specialist of Alabama, I provide a knowledgeable resource that furnishes a nontoxic natural treatment option by educating, empowering, treating and preventing head lice in our community. I specialize in calming fears, anxieties and turning an overwhelming lice situation into a manageable one.
Discovering head lice instantly creates an emotional response. Panic, feelings of dirtiness and shame are
just a few of the many emotions that infiltrate the brain. Over the years and throughout the many generations before us, people with lice have been perceived as dirty and unkept. For this reason, now in 2025, when lice are discovered the feeling of shame arises and takes over. The panic that the mind and body experiences is compared to nothing else. That emotional response when finding head lice for the very first time is completely normal and is experienced by every single person. The only way to break the stigma of having head lice is to talk about it. Period. If we as a community normalize head lice, we take away the fear. We break the cycle. We reduce the number of cases. We shift the shame to compassion.
The Lice Specialist of Alabama provides an array of services to fit the needs of your family during a head lice crisis. Previously located in Atlanta, GA, I am working to become a valuable member of the Huntsville and Madison, AL communities. I have been helping families fight against head lice since 2009 with supporting partners that include various schools, camps, and doctors.
I understand how head lice are evolving, what products are needed to prevent the adult louse transfer and
how to successfully remove an infestation with the most stubborn nits.

The average time before an infestation is discovered is about 4 to 6 weeks. The severity of the signs and symptoms will depend greatly on the size and length of the infestation.
A head lice infestation will vary in size depending on the length of time an infestation has had to develop. Once on a new host, the adult louse will continue the cycle with a new generation of nits. From nit to deceased adult louse, the lifespan is 30-33 days.
Adult Characteristics
A fertilized female louse will use the hair as a bridge to transfer from one host to another. She will start laying nits on day one.
Nit Characteristics
An infestation gains its mass abundance during the nymph stage of the developmental process.
Nymph Characteristics
Lice leave behind a scent created from the saliva and urine that is embedded into the hair shaft. This scent actually attracts a new head lice infestation and lasts up to 30 days. The use of repellant products help mask the scent, thus, lowering the chances of receiving another head lice infestation.
